The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea offers scholarships to high school seniors who are residents of Palm Beach County and who will attend college in the fall. A Bethesda Memorial Scholarship is renewable for four years, provided the student earns a 3.0 GPA for a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Scholarships will not exceed $5,000 a year and are intended to close the gap between a college/university’s financial aid package and a family’s financial need.

Each high school in Palm Beach County may nominate one student to the Scholarship Committee who demonstrates both potential for success in undergraduate education and financial need. The Committee recommends a 3.0 GPA, 1110 SAT (on a 1600 scale), or 23 ACT to be the minimum for nomination. A member of Bethesda-by-the-Sea may also nominate a student.

A student must submit two letters of recommendation in order to be considered: one from a counselor/administrator/faculty member of her/his school, and one from a person not affiliated with the school and not related by blood or marriage to the applicant. Letters of recommendation are to be emailed to scholarship@bbts.org and should support the student’s application and explain any extenuating circumstances that would influence the committee’s decision in awarding the scholarship.

A student must submit an official, digital high school transcript to scholarship@bbts.org.

Completed online applications are due by Friday, April 26, 2024 and must be accompanied by all supporting materials, including recommendations, which may have been emailed earlier. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
